Sea Change at Traffic LightsDavid Eggleton
Sudden strumpet thunder,
strolling the isthmus,
drags purple hibiscus colours,
before a raincoat brigade of clouds
brings the biscuit tin roar
of drumming rain to join loud
brakes, engines, sirens, and cursing callers crossing the road in one
sparkly scene as, between the shush shush of wipers
working the streaming windscreen, a big boat looms high, sailing seawards on
the back of a truck transporter, water
planing from tyres, and spray whirling skywards.
