one
day ... continued
veins
of gold emboss the sky
i lick his skin
he writhes
and becomes a snake
swaying
northern lights flash in my eyes
meteors shower his hands
the earth craters
my fingers become paintbrushes
his body the masterpiece i copy
i cover him
with sacred symbols to ward off evil
he is scared
shouts profanities
coils
the clouds collide with the sun
birds fall from the heavens
breaking their necks while i weep
i draw a circle on his cheek
my blood is the southern quarter
he struggles, pushing me away until i run
& we fall into a dream filled space
like lovers spent fall into each other's arms
i
emerge
but he is still sleeping
the
snow is a bright pendleton blanket
i watch him from a sacred hill
as the sun rises
