I am now half way through the book. The spine has cracked and I have the delicious knowledge I will throw the book away once I have finished it. Why delicious? It's one less book on the shelves. I will retain some memory of it. And I have again participated in the magic rite of reading. Just as writing is, of itself, syncretic.

I began this piece of writing feeling fractured and de-centred yet by the very act of writing something remarkable has happened. It cured my blues. I have re-formed my personality into a whole and all the cracks of my being have magically melded together and formed one sealed surface. This is the magic of words. Now – like the book – I can throw these words away.
