cooking up theorems
on a tan baby

in the living room

Monk on a rocket
          bound for outer
space

tapping the fuel gauge

he's a singularity, a spanner
in the works
          speaking so plain

a deaf and dumb man
          can hear
          and the kitchen

sink and the icebox hum
along as if

this tune were the most obvious thing
in the world
