Nafanua goes to bed with her cousin, of course it's not right, but it's not new either.
He is unkind and there is between them the kind of hunger that inhabits dogs when
they can smell meat, have it rubbed across their muzzles, but neverever eat.
It makes them bite themselves.

Nafanua seems to think pulling up the sheet will hide them

cousin in the other bed, cousin in the hall lying with his feet up against the doorframe,
cousin's ex wife and her children sitting on the edge of the bed saying
Look I have nothing against you, cuz, but what the fuck are you doing?
